3. Dwight Howard is an NBA champion

A lot has been said about Dwight Howard throughout his 16-year NBA career. Sometimes it’s difficult to love him, other times it’s impossible to hate him.

Dwight spent his prime years with the Orlando Magic, where he quickly evolved to be the best center in the league. He 3-peated as the league’s Defensive Player of the Year and even finished second in MVP voting in 2011.

His most impressive accomplishment, though, has to be leading the Magic to the 2009 NBA Finals after eliminating LeBron out East. There, he would face Kobe Bryant and the Los Angeles Lakers that would easily defeat Howard and the Magic in five games.

Despite failing to win a ring more than a decade ago, Dwight never gave up. Even when his career started taking a slight detour, he started accepting his role as a back-up big man. The Lakers owe a big portion of their success to this man and nobody can deny him that.

The result was that Dwight ultimately won an NBA Championship 16 years after entering the league. The cherry on top is that he did that in Orlando too.

A true inspiration to us all, Howard never gave up on his dreams. He worked extremely hard to get to that point and will now go down in history as an NBA champion.
