The Los Angeles Lakers have climbed the mountain to become the 2020 NBA Champions for the 17th time in franchise history.

In what has been an extremely controversial season, the Los Angeles Lakers turned out to be the ones walking away victorious. Winning under these circumstances in the Orlando bubble sure seemed different, though it shouldn’t matter any less than any of the other past champions.

Their opponents, the Miami Heat, put up a great fight, being the true underdogs since day one. The preseason power rankings had them barely making the 2020 NBA Playoffs. In lieu of that, they defeated multiple higher seeds to advance to the NBA Finals.

Unfortunately for them, they would then have to face the almighty Los Angeles Lakers. A team that was built around two superstars and top 5 active NBA players, stopping LeBron James and Anthony Davis seemed like an impossible task. Turns out, it really was.

Even though no fans were in attendance, the NBA did a great job of maintaining a great atmosphere which allowed us to watch our basketball heroes consistently put up great numbers and, most importantly, stay healthy in these difficult times.

Every NBA Finals series usually has multiple headlines that highlight the press. This is where the lights shine brighter and where dreams become reality. Whether you are a young prospect like Kyle Kuzma or a long-running veteran like Jared Dudley, that first ring sure hits different.

Despite Miami’s hard-fought battle which gifted us a much more competitive series than anticipated, the final storylines will be written in yellow and purple ink.
