Chicago Bulls star Zach LaVine came close to being named an NBA All-Star in 2020. Here are the things he must do to become an All-Star in 2021.

One night after launching himself from the free throw line to capture his second consecutive Slam Dunk championship, Michael Jordan dominated the 1988 NBA All-Star game. Scoring 40 points on a blistering 17 for 23 from the field, Jordan was his usual unstoppable self. What made that night all the more special though, is that the game was held in the old Chicago Stadium. It was the first time the NBA All-Star game had been in the city since 1973, and Chicago Bulls fans were thrilled to see the hometown hero walk away with the MVP trophy.

Approaching the 2020 All-Star game, Bulls fans were hoping another two-time Slam Dunk champion could represent the Windy City. In a perfect world, Zach LaVine would be named a first-time All-Star, because the game was back in Chicago for the first time since 1988. Unfortunately, this didn’t happen and LaVine was forced to settle for an appearance in the weekend’s 3-point contest instead.

Hoping to join Joel Embiid as just the second player from the 2014 draft to make an All-Star team, Zach LaVine showed off his entire offensive repertoire this past season. A gifted athlete with great combination of dribble moves and outside shooting, he is on the cusp of establishing himself as one of the premier scorers in the NBA. The 25.5 points per game he averaged in the 2020 season were the highest of his career. The question remains, what steps must Zach LaVine take next season to become a first-time All-Star?

These five goals will help him get there.
