Detroit Pistons D Grades

The expectations for the three players in this section were demonstrably lower than those for Griffin. That is the only reason they are not joining him in the failing category.

For Jordan McRae it is hard to say if he would have gotten better had the season not stopped when it did. The team picked him up off of waivers as the calendar turned to March and he would appear in just four games for the Pistons. On his third team in just this season he was taking advantage of his limited opportunities, averaging 11.8 points and 3.8 rebounds. But his efficiency (shooting splits of .326/.188/.727) was terrible and he is unlikely to be brought back.

Thon Maker endeared himself to Detroit fans quickly and watched his popularity crater as he failed to improve. There were still flashes of potential on the defensive end of the floor but that barred the fans from getting the feel good of seeing Christian Wood on the floor earlier. This was his worst season since his rookie year, coming in a contract year no less.

Finally, it is hard not to feel bad for Khyri Thomas. The team clearly believes in him to an extent but injuries limited him to just eight games this season. His roster spot was tenuous coming into the year and this did not help matters. The second year wing has appeared in just 34 games so far.
