For months the Washington Wizards’ Bradley Beal has been in trade rumors. Here is what it would cost and his likely landing spot if a deal were to get done.

The Washington WizardsBradley Beal is a wanted man. Contenders have been circling the one-man offense for more than a year, but he has steadfastly pledged his allegiance to the nation’s capital. However, after an All-NBA team snub, Beal may angel for a to move to a contender to get the accolades he feels he deserves.

The NBA rumour-mill has linked Beal to NBA title favorites, up and coming teams, and hastily assembled superteams. His combination of age, production, and affordable contract makes him one of the most desirable trade targets in years. If the Wizards are to part with their franchise cornerstone the return would have to be tremendous.

Beal’s average of 30.5 points per game in 2019-20 was the 55th highest single-season average in NBA history. Only two players in the history of the league have ever been traded the season following a 30 point per game season, Allen Iverson in 2006 and World B. Free in 1980. Only adding to Beal’s value is his relative youth, 27 years old, and his accommodating contact.

Beal is currently under contract for two more seasons, with a player option for a third. His salary for next season, $28.75 million, will make him the 31st highest-paid player even before free agency has completed. Beal’s combination of talent, age, and contract is unique and means the Wizards’ asking price for prying him away will enter the blank-cheque territory. What would a franchise have to offer to secure Beal’s services and who could make the paradigm-altering move?
