Golden State Warriors B-grades

Stephen Curry – B

Stephen Curry, as we all know, was out for most of the season. He broke his left hand during a game against the Phoenix Suns just four games into the 2019-2020 season. Curry sat out of games after the injury before making his return on March 5 against the Toronto Raptors. Unfortunately, that was the last game that Steph played before the league went into its hiatus just a week after. If we look at the 3 games Curry played before his injury on the fourth night, he averaged 25 points and 6.7 assists.

Shooting wise, he shot 43.9 percent from the field and 26.8 percent from 3-point range. Some of those stats are misleading due to the fact that Curry had a slow start and didn’t start having a positive impact on the floor until the third game, in which he had a +32 plus/minus, 11 assists, and was 4 for 10 from deep. In essence, he was just starting to warm up for the season.

Looking at his one-game upon returning from his injury, he played 27 minutes and averaged 23 points, seven assists and six rebounds. However, he was only 6 for 16 on the floor and 3 for 12 on three. One aspect that did look good was his 8-of-8 from the free throw line. Overall, it’s hard to analyze only one game but Steph wasn’t shooting like himself.

Damion Lee – B+

Damion Lee was one of the better players of the season. Out of the 49 games that he played, Lee averaged 12.7 points, 2.7 assists, and 4.9 rebounds per game. He shot 41.7 percent from the field and a league-average 35.8 percent from three. Lee’s free throw shooting was very good at 87.3 percent. This season was a career-best for Damion Lee and he took full advantage of his minutes, proving himself to be a reliable shooter and rotation player for the future.
