2. Re-sign Bryn Forbes

The last two seasons for Bryn Forbes have been something wonderful to watch. He served a two year apprenticeship on the Spurs bench before blossoming into a starter in 2018-19. He has not looked back since.

An undersized shooting guard at 6’2″, Forbes has shown that height is just a number. He has averaged 11.5 points per game on an incredibly efficient 9.5 shot attempts. Given that he takes two thirds of his shot attempts from deep, Forbes is an incredible floor spacer.

The 2018-19 season was Forbes best to date where he averaged 11.8 points, 2.9 rebounds, 2.5 assists with a slash line of .456/.426/.885, He was so very close to joining some very elite shooting company that season. Last season he averaged 11.2 points, 2.0 rebounds and 1.7 assists with a slash line of .417/.388/.833.

However, the biggest drawback with Forbes is on the defensive end, particularly when he is playing with Patty Mills. There are so many back courts in the NBA which are just too big for the Spurs to guard.

The future back court of the Spurs looks like it is going to be Dejounte Murray and Lonnie Walker which is a much better size and also defensively. This means that Forbes needs to be signed to a team friendly deal as he should gradually move to a second unit role.

At the age of 27, Forbes will be a player who will be looking to take on more leadership duties. With so many of the teams stars over 30, he needs to become the locker room presence and mentor as the others move on.
