4. Move on from Kent Bazemore

After coming over in the Trevor Ariza trade, Kent Bazemore was solid for the Sacramento Kings. He averaged 10.3 points, 4.9 rebounds, 1.3 assists, and 1.2 steals per game. He shot the ball well with a slash line of .418/.384/.733.

While these numbers are good, his 38.4 percent from deep appears better than it actually is. While his shot need to be respected, he is only shooting 2.9 attempts from deep per game. Compare than to Bogdanovic who is taking 7.2 per game at 37.4 percent.

Also consider that Bazemore signed a  $70 million deal over four years while he was with the Atlanta Hawks. Bazemore peaked in 2017-18 when he averaged 12.9 points per game. This is simply not enough production for such a big deal.

Considering Bazemore’s career average is 8.7 points per game and he is 30 years of age, he is not worth signing long-term. For the Kings to win, they need roster certainty and time for their players to build chemistry.

The other issue for the Kings is that the Kings have a log jam at shooting guard, with quality players ahead of him such as Hield and Bogdanovic. Of course if Hield is traded then the Kings would need to revisit this decision.

This offseason it is even more crucial than usual for the Kings to make the right roster calls. If they go the wrong way then they are going to have their active streak extended to 15 years. The Kings need to get the playoffs next season, otherwise they might start losing players quickly.
