Sacramento Kings: 5 offseason roster moves they must make
3. Re-sign Bogdan Bogdanovic
Originally taken with the 27th pick of the 2014 draft Bogdanovic opted to stay playing in Europe until after the 2016 Olympic Games. Two months prior to the Games, Bogdanovic was then traded to the Sacramento Kings.
He then signed a three year deal with the franchise for $27 million. His play was certainly worth the wait and the money of the deal. Over the three years, Bogdanovic has averaged 13.5 points, 3.4 rebounds, 3.4 assists and 1.0 steals per game.
His shooting efficiency has been solid with a slash line of 43.4/37.4/80.6 meaning that when he is on the floor, Bogdanovic’s shot must be respected. These numbers have been steady throughout his time in the league meaning the Kings know what they are getting from Bogdanovic.
Recently it has come to light that the Kings might be shopping Hield. If they do trade him then this will open up minutes for Bogdanovic and it will hand him the starting slot. Given his international experience and his time in the league, Bogdanovic is certainly ready for it.
At the age of 28, Bogdanovic wants to start winning now. He started in the league late due to staying in Europe for three years after being drafted. The Kings need to keep Bogdanovic if they want to start winning.
