2. Trade Jabari Parker

Since injuring his knee while playing for the Milwaukee Bucks Jabari Parker‘s career has been in a state of flux. After four years in Milwaukee, Parker has played for four teams in the last two seasons.

Parker signed  with the Chicago Bulls as a free agent at the start of the 2018 season, and then was traded to the Washington Wizards with Bobby Portis and a 2023 second round pick for Otto Porter.

Then, last season, Parker signed as a free agent with the Atlanta Hawks on a two-year deal with a player option. He was traded by the Hawks last season to the Kings, with Alex Len to relieve the Kings of Dewayne Dedmon’s salary, which was going to stop them re-signing some of their future pieces.

Len’s $4.1 million salary comes off the books at the end of this season. However, Parker sill has a $6.5 million player option which he should opt in on. While the free agent pool this season is shallow, Parker will not command much more money that this if he tries his luck on the open market.

The 6’8″ power forward has career averages of 14.9 points, 5.7 rebounds, and 2.1 assists. With the Kings, Parker was only able to average 8.5 points, 3.8 rebounds and, 1.7 assists per game.  While this was only a six game sample size, it is enough.

Parker is one of five forwards on the roster and he struggled to stretch the floor. He only made 25.0 percent of his 3-point shots when in Sacramento. It may take a pick to get the deal done but the Kings could use this spot for a solid backup point guard.
