Los Angeles Lakers: Anthony Davis is answering every question in the NBA Finals
By Duncan Smith
Can Anthony Davis play with LeBron James?
It turns out this question might have been the silliest of all. LeBron has made teammates from Kyrie Irving to J.R. Smith better, so fitting in with Anthony Davis should have been a foregone conclusion from the start.
So far in the playoffs, the Los Angeles Lakers have a remarkable +15.9 net rating when they play together. They’re just running teams off the floor when the two stars are in the game. In the playoffs, Davis is averaging 29.3 points, 9.6 rebounds and 3.5 assists while shooting 57.9 percent from the field and 39.1 percent from 3-point range.
Davis has been virtually automatic from every part of the floor when he has the ball, and LeBron either lurking off the ball or running offense to open Davis up has been a lethal combination that none of the Portland Trail Blazers, Houston Rockets, Denver Nuggets or the Miami Heat have any hope of being able to slow down.
Davis is scoring 1.144 points per possession (PPP) on jump shots (per Synergy), 1.026 PPP on post-ups, 1.242 PPP on spot-ups, 1.062 PPP in isolation, 1.487 PPP on cuts and 1.432 PPP as the pick-and-roll man. He’s been unstoppable at everything he’s tried his hand at in these playoffs, and he deserves every bit of the credit for that.
And yes, Anthony Davis can absolutely play with LeBron James.
