Milwaukee Bucks: Giannis Antetokounmpo deserves to be two-time MVP
Giannis winning MVP means more
The superstar has both game and stats to back it up. Anyone watching him should see that he is the definition of a most valuable player. Antetokounmpo has been valuable to his team. He has been valuable to the league. He has been valuable to himself. This is an argument to bring up specifically at the voting table and at the coffee table at home for debate.
The Bucks have benefitted the most from the talent of Antetokounmpo. The Greek phenomenon took the Bucks to number one. Although the Bucks postseason success has not been any at all, their regular season success is not something to brush over and neither is it an easy feat to achieve. Antetokounmpo has used his MVP status to help the Bucks win in hopes of winning a championship and building a championship team for years to come.
After exiting the playoffs this year, Antetokounmpo made a point about free agency and also where he was heading as an individual. “I am not going anywhere. Some see a wall and go in another direction. I plow through it.”
It’s an analogy about the way the Bucks hit a brick wall, but also how Giannis is going to handle it moving forward. He is going to do two things: remain with the Bucks and continue playing the best game. The Bucks certainly are better with Giannis than without, which was proven in the playoffs this year due to any injury which sidelined him for two games. If Giannis were to leave the Bucks in free agency, Milwaukee would certainly be left with a hole in the organization and city.
That being said, Antetokounmpo’s dedication to himself is valuable. He wants to improve and do everything he can to win. He just wants and needs a better supporting cast, a sentiment that has been floating around the league since last year when the Bucks playoff struggles became a problem. Antetokounmpo has a winning spirit and is obviously competitive. Forging ahead of all competition to win MVP is exemplary of this. Winning the award speaks volumes about what a player achieves or sets out to achieve every time he steps on the floor and for Antetokounmpo, winning it twice speaks to what he and the league expects of him.
The success of the Greek Freak have been valuable to the league. His overall game and his will to make it known around the league is admirable and should be recognized by the league. He is the best player in the league by this standard. It is a case worth proving and defending even amongst the harshest of criticisms, which includes comparisons to an all-time great in LeBron James.
