What to make of this

No matter how disinterested your players are, the head coach’s job is to make sure they are as best prepared as possible to yield the best results. The Clippers were a team supposedly destined for greatness but simply fell short. This brings back memories of the 2018-2019 Philadelphia 76ers, who had an All-Star lineup that underdelivered.

It’s no question that Doc Rivers is a well-respected head coach. Many revere him as one of the top coaches in the league. It’s tough to really determine what Rivers could do with a lineup that includes Simmons and Embiid.

Rivers would have a prolific passer in Simmons he has only had one other time in his career (Rajon Rondo). The sets that could run with that sort of passing ability are endless, right?

Not to mention, Rivers hasn’t had a dominant big-man like Embiid since Garnett. It’s safe to say that both men are post-dominant and can hit jumpers here and there, making Doc Rivers’ work cut out for him.

However, if Doc Rivers does end up coaching the Philadelphia 76ers, he will need to focus his efforts on utilizing his star pieces and getting the most out of them. On top of that, he will need to emphasize team basketball and creating opportunities through ball movement and getting the best possible shot.

This would be a tall task for any coach, but Rivers could be the one to get the job done. If he’s up for it, the city of Philadelphia should open up to him with open arms.
