Daniel Theis – Buy

Daniel Theis signed a contract last summer that was completely non-guaranteed for the second season, essentially giving the Celtics a team option for year two in everything but name.

Theis had a one-year trial run to prove that he belonged here for the future. That is just what he did. He moved into the starting lineup full time (starting 64 of the 66 games he appeared in) and posted career highs across the board.

This season he averaged 9.2 points, 6.6 rebounds, 1.7 assists and 1.3 blocks per game. He stepped up in a position that the team needed someone to do so.

Despite the outrageous storyline that was going around prior to the conference finals about him and Bam Adebayo being a wash, Theis should not be understated. That discussion was an overstatement but Theis is the perfect role player for this team. Whether or not he should be the long term starter for this team is questionable, but with a $5 million cap hit next season he does not have to be.

Theis showed that he can fill that need until Boston finds another option at the position. His play has made it so that is not something they have to rush into.
