Semi Ojeleye – Sell

Semi Ojeleye’s three seasons with the Boston Celtics has been mostly a forgettable tenure. He has posted career averages of 3.1 points and 2.10rebounds per game on shooting splits of .391/.340/.688. He improved his efficiency this season but was still a mostly ineffective player.

The unfortunate truth for Ojeleye is he has just been passed by other young players on the roster and they will be more of a focus going forward. Even beyond the All-Star level players, Grant Williams has quickly won his way into the rotation and is more promising than Ojeleye. Robert Williams III showed potential and earned playoff minutes this season for the team.

The player option for next season looms large for a team looking to cut costs to improve their roster. Given the Celtics proximity to the tax line, shaving off $1.75 million goes even further. The potential is still there for Ojeleye. He simply has not been consistent enough.

Other teams without title aspirations could take a chance on Ojeleye, giving him more minutes to see if he continues to develop with increased opportunity. The physical tools are there. The Boston Celtics simply do not have the time to wait to see if he meets his potential at this point.
