New York Knicks: 5 realistic free agents to target
3. Goran Dragic
Goran Dragic has been an invaluable member of this Miami Heat team that has clinched an NBA Finals appearance. They have constantly been viewed as the underdogs, though they have shown that they won’t break under pressure.
Whether Miami wins the Larry O’Brien trophy or not, there’s one thing we know for sure. Miami’s future isn’t Dragic and Goran’s future isn’t in South Beach.
Similarly to Derrick Jones Jr., it would be extremely unlikely to see the Heat commit to a 34-year-old Dragic, when they have a perfectly capable rookie in Kendrick Nunn, ready to take over as the team’s go-to point guard.
The money that they would hypothetically throw onto Goran could be used to lure younger players, not one-season rents for a non-athletic, yet capable, guy. As previously explained, the chance to sign Giannis Antetokounmpo in 2021 is just too big to risk over Dragic.
In New York, Goran Dragic can instantly become the starting point guard, a role that has been void for a very long time. By watching the New York Knicks, one can clearly see that the role of a facilitator is nowhere to be found. Enter, Goran Dragic.
