Cameron Johnson

Goal: Continue the Bubble Effort

The Orlando bubble was something special for the Suns, especially since they finished with a perfect 8-0 record, surprising every NBA fan in existence. They made fans believers, and while they didn’t make the playoffs, it was a reminder of this team’s future. One of the defining players in the Orlando bubble was none other than the ninth pick in the 2019 Draft, Cameron Johnson.

Johnson was arguably one of the most popular contributors to this young roster and made a sensational impact on all eight games. Overall, Johnson was one of the players who made that massive impact and was ultimately an X-Factor in all of their bubble games.

This eight-game stretch proved that the Suns’ selection of Johnson was perfect, considering how well he plays as a role player, and it obviously led to success and believers. Good coaching, and a step up in the effort lead to Johnson becoming a cult-hit with Suns fans.

And that’s exactly what we want for next season, the same contribution that we saw in the stretch of those eight games. We can’t expect Johnson to become a full-fledged scorer, but we want Johnson to further his efforts into something similar to how he played in the bubble.

It’s certainly achievable, considering we saw glimpses of how great Johnson could be in his rookie year and obviously in the bubble. If Johnson can keep consistent with these effective 12-18 point games, he can become one of the most reliable role-players in the Pacific Division.
