Now that the season is over for the Phoenix Suns, all eyes look toward next season, and it’s clear that we’ll be seeing players set expectations.
A whole valley of words can react to the 2019-2020 season. In relation to the Phoenix Suns, those words are expected to be positive than anything. This season demonstrated how the franchise as a whole is stepping in the perfect direction, and it’s not hard to see why. This season, in a way, felt like a blur. It went surprisingly quickly, but we can stamp this season as a wholehearted success.
But let’s talk about the future, and bypass the offseason thoughts. Think of this as a preview of the 2020-2021 season, except we’re about four months early. Within the next few months, we’ll have the rest of the NBA playoffs, the draft combine, the draft and free agency, all in a new and unexplored time-setting.
We would typically be watching opening night late in October, but NBA fans are now searching up on the next batch of draft prospects. It goes to show how much COVID-19 has set us. For the Suns, the offseason has clear cut expectations, mostly involving the draft and deciding which veteran won’t continue to play in a Suns jersey next season. But that’s a piece in itself.
We want to set goals for the Phoenix Suns, with each individual player getting an achievable expectation, without getting wild. These goals should always be considered, but they’re worthing having in mind, particularly for next season. We can’t guarantee that some of these players will be in a Suns jersey next season, but let’s keep an open mindset. Besides, some of these goals may change over the offseason, depending on roster changes.
But to avoid any issues, we’ll be ignoring some players who we don’t believe will be apart of this unit next season. In that case, let’s start setting some WAY too early goals for rotational players in Phoenix for the 2020-2021 season.
