Ranking the NBA’s 2019-20 season ‘Classic’ jersey collection
12. Los Angeles Clippers / Buffalo Braves
The least appealing jersey out of the 12 is the LA Clippers, who formerly were the Buffalo Braves and moved to San Diego and dropping the braves title for the Clippers name and then eventually as we know them now as the LA Clippers.
The jersey does represent the old style well and reminds you of the old Bob McAdoo photos, but it doesn’t excuse it from being an ugly jersey.
It’s great to see history represented on the stars of the Clippers players in Kawhi Leonard and Paul George, as many fans wouldn’t know of the long (and mostly unsuccessful) history of the Clippers franchise.
The boldness of the jersey including the logo with pushing the number and name to the side is a style that could work but it didn’t, possibly the color scheme wasn’t used correctly as white, orange and black. The unique Halloween-like-combination that would require some creative licensing to change but keep authentic like the Utah Jazz have done with their Classic jersey, which you’ll see later.
11. Indiana Pacers
Despite being an excellent throwback and acknowledgement the Indiana Pacers have made to the 80’s basketball movie Hoosiers, loosely based on an Indiana high school state title team. The jersey has been redone multiple times now.
It was first done in 2017 when Paul George was still on the Pacers. (who’s been on two different teams now) from that point until now they have only worn and sold two variants a maroon red and a clean white.
There are so many ABA and Indiana Pacers 90’s era jerseys that could be re-made to either honor and represent the start in the ABA or to give some love to the franchise MVP Reggie Miller, the 90’s dark blue pinstripes could look amazing as seen with the Orlando Magic jerseys from 2018.
If the Pacers remade those and debuted them against the New York Knicks they would be some great Reggie Miller choke sign gifs going about on NBA Twitter.
10. Charlotte Hornets
There’s nothing innately wrong with these Charlotte Hornets jerseys, they are clean, bright purple and they remind you of the Alonzo Mourning, Muggsy Bogues and Larry ‘Grandmama’ Johnson.

The mix of the green and blue in the pinstripe with the turquoise outline on the name and numbers looks modern but screams old school basketball. There isn’t much else to say, maybe they’d be higher on the list if the team didn’t stink or had a certain 5’11 All-Star wearing it.
