LA Clippers: The 2021 NBA season means team togetherness
Team chemistry was the LA Clippers downfall during the 2020 postseason. Now getting things back on track for the next season will be the goal headed into this offseason.
A new season means new opportunities. For the LA Clippers, the 2019-20 season was rough for the little brother squad in the city of angels.
Los Angeles is a city where dreams come true. The Clippers have never tasted the realization of that dream. Dreams come true when a person or a group of people work hard to achieve a goal.
The Clippers season was up and down. There was the thrill of winning the season series against the Los Angeles Lakers. Then there was the excitement of putting together a winning streak before the hiatus.
COVID-19 brought the team together. They trained. Players got together and decided to go to Orlando. Things were weird during the 2019-20 season. Players fought. Tough times were gotten through. The excitement of Clippers basketball was brought back.
The Clippers were able to get Kawhi Leonard last summer and the things the team and Leonard can do are scary. Leonard will have the chance to be great again with this Clippers team.
That’s the chance that many do not have. Being what you once were is the reason we live.
Leonard averaged 27.1 points per game this season. That’s up from an average of 26.6 points per game last season.
Consistency is maddening. Leonard has had the numbers these past two years but it’s been for two different teams. Next year will be with LA again. It will be the first time he has played consecutive seasons with a team in 2017-18.
Kawhi wants Paul George back. The duo while not obtaining a championship had an amazing season.
Their defensive ability on the wings and their shot-creating abilities on offense made for great entertainment. It was the 90’s Chicago Bulls in Los Angeles.
Paul George was able to overcome his mental challenges. The first round has been haunting George for a long time. He overcame it.
The shoulder injury was overcome early in the season. He was able to learn how his teammates could heal his wounds. While things weren’t perfect all the time George was the piece that was going to take them over the top.
Paul George is from Los Angeles. The Clippers should be his home next year. The Clippers are known for their supporting cast. It’s the best supporting cast in the league for a matter of fact.
Young players need to step up for the cast to be consistent once again. Landry Shamet and Montrezl Harrell moving into the starting lineup should help things.
Lou Williams, JaMychal Green and Ivica Zubac in the second unit should be great. Williams will be counted on to handle the scoring load.
JaMychal Green will force Williams to pass the ball which will help keep the defense honest.
Ivica Zubac will help create a screen game. That means another passing option for Williams and it opens up driving lanes.
Lou Williams is one of the best sixth men in NBA history. He is a defensive liability though. Green and Zubac help to clog the lanes and will be a security blanket.
Next year is a chance to make up for the past. After seeing potential championship basketball the future looks bright for the LA Clippers.
