Detroit Pistons: 3 goals for Blake Griffin in the 2020-21 season

3. Mentorship
In this retooling process that the Pistons have undertaken, there’s a youth movement. From Kennard to Sekou Doumbouya and Sviatoslav Mykhailiuk, it’s a young team full of minds to develop. It’s not just a matter of coaching that will bring these kids along; it’s also the veterans.
While the Pistons have tipped the scales from vets to youth, they still have some key vets who can help teach them in the ways they should go. Along with Derrick Rose, you can’t do much better than Blake Griffin as far as a veteran mentor in a locker room full of young players.
Griffin has seen just about everything and experienced more than most NBA players ever will (look back on the Donald Sterling scandal and fallout, as well as being jettisoned from an LA Clippers team that swore to make him their forever cornerstone while courting him in free agency), and he maintains a level head about it all. While we may not know just what impact he may have on the floor next season, this is a way he can make a lasting impact on the future of the Detroit Pistons.
