Back of the bench veterans

The Clippers filled out a bench that seemed to have plenty of depth, even if it only ended up being in name only. Joakim Noah, Reggie Jackson and Patrick Patterson are the most likely players on this team to be looking for a new home next year if they intend to keep playing.

Jackson will obviously have a place in the league next year, even as he struggled to find a place in Doc Rivers’ rotation. Over the last five games in the second round, he played a total of 10 minutes 43 seconds. Even as the team was struggling with guard play from Lou Williams and Patrick Beverly, Rivers still did not trust Jackson. His days with the team are numbered.

Joakim Noah played just under two minutes in the entire postseason run and Patrick Patterson played under 10. Both players have dealt with a myriad of injuries and getting closer to the end of the road. Patterson is only 31 but has seen his role diminish over the last three years.

Noah was brought in as a veteran presence at the end of the bench but this was likely his last chance. His contract is not guaranteed for next season and he is unlikely to be able to play a full season at this point. Teams like the Clippers usually use these roster slots on ring chasers willing to play on small contracts. They can do better than these three.
