4. Re-sign Malik Beasley

Another player that was part of a mid-season trade, Malik Beasley came from the Denver Nuggets where he played 41 games off the bench this season. When he came to the Minnesota Timberwolves, he started all 14 games he played.

In that time he showed an incredible increase in production. His career averages with the Nuggets were 7.4 points and 1.9 rebounds in 16.4 minutes per game. What he did after moving teams was nothing short of spectacular.

Beasley averaged 20.7 points, 5.1 rebounds and 1.9 assists in 33.1 minutes per game. He is the true example of giving a player a greater opportunity and if they have the talent they will take it with both hands and certainly run with it.

Beasley took 8.2 shots from behind the 3-point line which is more than twice his career average of 3.6. He is also hitting the 3-ball at a better clip. For his career, Beasley is a 38.8 percent shooter from deep. In his limited time with the Timberwolves he hit 42.6 percent.

If the Timberwolves do draft Edwards with the first pick, Beasley’s minutes, and therefore his production will go down. However, he has shown that he is very comfortable with the Timberwolves’ system. He will be a good leader for the second unit, taking some pressure off the starters.
