2. Re-sign Juan Hernangomez

Hernangomez started all 14 games upon arriving with the Timberwolves. He has been a solid contributor without being overly spectacular.

He averaged 12.9 points, 7.3 rebounds, 1.3 assists and 1.0 steals per game. Hernangomez showed that he was able to fit into the TImberwolves system, shooting the ball at 45.3 percent from the floor and 42.0 percent from deep.

In fact Hernangomez took 4.9 of his 9.8 shot attempts per game from deep. However, he was not just a floor spacer. The Timberwolves used also benefitted from his 1.4 offensive rebounds per game, meaning that Towns was able to stay outside the paint for longer periods on offense.

The other factor which is a key feature for the Timberwolves is Hernangomez’s age also fits their timeline. He is 24 which is the same age as Russell and Towns.

This will give the core a good chance to grow together and form chemistry while they develop the next age group of talent. Jarrett Culver, Josh Okogie, Jarred Vanderbilt, Jaylen Nowell and Naz Reid are all 21. The future looks bright with Hernangomez as part of the core.
