Indiana Pacers: What went wrong against the Heat in the NBA playoffs
The Pacers and Heat play Game 1, and the Heat’s stars exposed the Pacers
From Game 1, Miami showed that they were not going to take a backseat to the Pacers. They used all of their elements which made them successful during the regular season: Jimmy Butler, 3-point shooting, intellect, defense, and they were on fire causing against the Central Division’s Indiana Pacers. By Game 2, which they won convincingly also, the idea wasn’t just that Miami was serious, but something was seriously wrong with Indiana.
Why couldn’t the Pacers win? Their team was highly thought of during the season and the previous season, which the Heat weren’t exactly until they acquired Butler. The Victor Oladipo and Malcolm Brogdon experiment was favored, then the scoring of former Phoenix Suns forward T.J. Warren was added and Indiana was all set to take on any team in the East. All three of these players could shoot and score efficiently.
The solution to this problem could have been easily solvable considering this trio of scorers, but the scoring and attack mode of the Heat made it nearly impossible for the Pacers to get in their groove and play their temperament style of play.
The unknown, or uncertainty is something that the Heat’s top scorer, Butler, liked to explore for himself and expose for others. With all of the advantages on the Heat’s side, including time and favor, they were sure to beat out the lackluster performance of the Pacers.
