Selecting at No. 8 in the NBA draft, the New York Knicks should look to target a wide selection of players, but also stay away from certain others.

Once again, luck was not by the side of the New York Knicks. Projected to have the sixth overall pick, the team somehow dropped once again, meaning that they will be making a mid-lottery selection at No. 8 in the 2020 NBA draft.

The 2020 NBA Draft could be a make-or-break type of situation for the Knicks. The team’s most obvious gap is starting point guard, with Frank Ntilikina and Dennis Smith looking more and more like role players as opposed to starters.

Luckily for the New York Knicks (for once), this year’s draft class is filled with talented point guards. This year’s ball handlers come in both quality and quantity, meaning that whatever happens, someone is bound to be available when the Knicks are on the clock.

With the draft almost two months away, the scouting team of the Knicks will have plenty of time to do the homework and pick the best guy available to take this franchise to where it truly belongs.

The absence of an NCAA tournament provides a much more limited game range to scout, though that should affect each team’s scouting experts equally.

Tyrese Haliburton seems like the most obvious pick at No. 8 due to his NBA-level body and the skillset which he possesses. Deni Avdija has also drawn quite a lot of interest, and his comparisons to Luka Doncic can only help his draft stock.

As in each year’s draft, there are prospects you should look into much more than others. But who exactly classifies, as one of these “others”?
