Post-lottery Mock NBA Draft: One week later for the Minnesota Timberwolves
By Corey Rausch
Without knowing who the head coach of the Chicago Bulls will be, it’s tougher to project what kind of player they want to fill the needs on their roster. For this reason, going with the best player available is a logical choice.
LaMelo Ball, for all of his faults, has an elite skill that will set him apart from the moment he steps on the floor. His court vision and passing is transcendent and will allow the offense for the Bulls to transform into something more explosive. He will be a highlight reel passer from the moment he steps on the court.
The offensive game is a work in progress. Much like his brother was early in his career (and in the seeding games) Ball needs to improve his shooting if he is ever going to be a star in this league. He also needs to improve on defense but the tools for both are there it’s just about mastering fundamentals. In Chicago, he would be able to come off the bench and be brought along slowly while playing alongside either Zach LaVine or Coby White in most cases.
He is a great rebounder for his position, due in part to his impressive height and length. It is more than that as rebounding is almost instinctive in this family. They continuously put themselves in positions to make plays. If Ball can handle this as his role while allowing the high volume players on the Bulls to succeed it will be a home run selection.
