Ty Lue

This is the easy one. Ty Lue is an NBA champion as a head coach with the Cleveland Cavaliers, is the kind of coach that can outcoach an opponent in a big playoff series and has experience handling stars that dwarf names like those of Joel Embiid and Ben Simmons.

The Sixers in their current form are kind of a no-win scenario. They’re poorly constructed with no team-building vision in place whatsoever, but if anybody can demand respect from his players simply based on his resume and the respect he’s earned in the NBA, it’s Ty Lue.

Stan Van Gundy

Stan Van Gundy hasn’t expressed much interest in returning to the head coaching game, but one would assume he’d be interested if the right job presented itself. He certainly spoke glowingly of Sixers’ star Ben Simmons, calling him his candidate for Defensive Player of the Year.

Joel Embiid could be an enticing piece for Van Gundy as well. He had tremendous success with a four-out one-in strategy with the Orlando Magic and Dwight Howard, and he might see Embiid as the kind of player he could replicate that with.

Van Gundy tried it in his stop with the Detroit Pistons, but Andre Drummond isn’t peak Dwight Howard or Joel Embiid either for that matter.
