1. Trade pick for a star

The worst kept secret in the NBA is that the Knicks are hoping to trade for a star. Among others, the team has been linked to Donovan Mitchell, Devin Booker, and Zach LaVine as potential trade targets since Rose inherited the team.

Mitchell and Booker were two of the hottest players in the NBA bubble in Orlando.

It would take a lot for the Knicks to be able to grab either of those two guys, probably a trade demand to their respective front offices, but they are both former Rose clients, so those rumors aren’t going anywhere.

Booker led the Phoenix Suns to an 8-0 record in the seeding games while averaging 30.5 points, 6.0 assists, 4.9 rebounds, and 1.9 3-pointers made on a slash line of .503/.313/.940. After how well Phoenix and Booker looked in that bubble, he likely won’t be going anywhere anytime soon.

Mitchell is a different story. If the Knicks keep hiring people from the Jazz, the league is going to fine them for tampering. He scored the third-most points in a playoff game in NBA history when he dropped a whopping 57 on the Denver Nuggets in Utah’s game one loss. He then followed that up with an extremely efficient 30 point effort in their game two win.

Most people thought the Jazz didn’t stand a chance in this series after all the drama with Gobert and the injury to Bojan Bogdanovic, but Mitchell has them ahead 2-1.

LaVine is more likely to be dealt than Booker or Mitchell. Jim Boylen being fired was a step in the right direction for LaVine in Chicago, but we have no idea how the new front office views him or his contract.
