The Denver Nuggets defeated the Utah Jazz 135-125 in the opening game of this Western Conference NBA playoffs series. Coming into the matchup the Nuggets went a perfect 3-0 against the Jazz during the regular season.
With that in mind, the Nuggets were feeling pretty confident about their chances heading into Game 2, even if the total margin of victory in the four previous games between these two ball clubs was 21 points. The Jazz continued to pour it on, as they converted six 3-pointers on their first eight possessions of the third quarter. The result was a 43-29 edge in that frame, pushing the lead to 27 points heading into the fourth quarter. When it was all said and done, the Jazz came away with a convincing 124-105 victory, notching their first win in five tries against the No. 3 seeded Nuggets.
