2. Consistent Bench Production

For the first time since the NBA restart, the Mavs had three players in double figures scoring off the bench, outscoring the Clippers’ bench 47-37.

The bench mob answered the call and was led by Trey Burke with 16 points on 7-for-11 shooting from the field and did so in just 18 minutes of play. Burke, who struggled offensively in game one with just two points, came up big in game two.

Though he wasn’t alone, Seth Curry provided an additional 15 points of his own and Marjanovic added 13 points. Marjanovic finished with 13 points and nine rebounds in nine minutes and 43 seconds Wednesday night and is now the first player in NBA history to record 10+ points and 7+ rebounds in 10-or-fewer mins of a playoff game. The Clippers had absolutely no answer for Marjanovic in his limited minutes. Expect him to keep up this level of play going forward.

Doc Rivers took notice of the bench production.

"“I just thought their bench outplayed our bench and our starters,” Rivers said."

This added production led to the Mavs putting up 98 points through three quarters, the third being their best in the scoring department with 37 points. All on one of the top five teams in terms of defensive rating in the regular season and finishing with 127 points total in the win.

Not only did they have the help from the bench, but they also had efficient help. All three who were in double figures off the bench shot better than 60 percent from the field. It’s the type of production this team will need consistently going forward.
