NBA Mock Draft: One final mock before Thursday’s NBA draft lottery
By Corey Rausch
Positional versatility was the name of the game for the San Antonio Spurs in the bubble and Devin Vassell’s ability to play either wing position will allow him to combo well with any of the young players who got starts for the team during the seeding games.
He fits the San Antonio mold as an ultra-athlete who has the potential to contribute on both ends of the floor from day one. He is a dead-eye 3-point shooter (41.7 percent over two seasons) so he will fit the free-flowing offense of the Spurs to a T.
The Sacramento Kings have plenty of guards and need to start adding big men, especially if Marvin Bagley is never to stay healthy. Precious Achiuwa would play well off the guards and would benefit from the spacing their wings provide.
He has the body and potential of the big, physical wings that find their way into playoff rotations every year. He has an insane reach and wingspan and would feed in the pick and roll with De’Aaron Fox. He needs grooming but the Kings have time as one of the few teams in the West next season actually not playing for the playoffs, even if they do not know it yet.
