NBA Mock Draft: One final mock before Thursday’s NBA draft lottery
By Corey Rausch
As much as we have said bad teams should not draft for need, the Washington Wizards are much closer to a playoff team than their draft position makes you think. If they are able to resign Davis Bertans a lineup with Bertans, John Wall and Bradley Beal has the potential on offense to be a threat.
The team should not be dissuaded after taking Rui Hachimura. Isaac Okoro is the pick here. He could be a highlight player next to a tonnage of shooting on a fully healthy Wizards team. His skill as a cutter compliments the shooting and play-making on this team perfectly. The fact that he is still very raw offensively should not scare this team away. He will be able to develop slowly and will look to make the most of very few shot attempts.
The best story in the bubble gets to add a player who had the potential to be a top pick in this draft before the season. Cole Anthony has the chance to be a special scorer and coming off the bench for a team with playoff aspirations is a good start.
He will bring a strong scoring punch off the bench. Right now his game is somewhat limited beyond that but for a team already well-stocked with young talent, a bench scorer is a welcome addition. He has not developed yet as a playmaker but playing behind Ricky Rubio and for Monty Williams will suit him well.
