NBA Mock Draft: One final mock before Thursday’s NBA draft lottery
By Corey Rausch
Sometimes things go right for a team when they make the correct moves after years of asking for it. The Chicago Bulls have finally moved on from Gar Forman and decided last week to find a new coach after dismissing Jim Boylen. The team has talent so taking the best player available can only help. Possibly ignoring big men should avoid any issues with positioning, as they already have possible star talents in Wendell Carter, Jr. and Lauri Markkanen. Lucky for them, the best option available is a point guard.
Even after taking Coby White last year taking a high-end point guard fits the roster well. They already have plenty of size and scoring. Killian Hayes will step in and immediately help in the play-making department. Standing at 6’5” he gives the team even more size and has the physical gifts on defense that the starting backcourt in Chicago currently lacks.
Hayes is definitely raw and will need to be brought along slowly, another benefit of playing behind White at first. If the Bulls were to hire a coach like Kenny Atkinson the development curve for Hayes could accelerate quickly. The intangibles are there, he just needs someone patient to help him harness them.
