NBA Mock Draft: One final mock before Thursday’s NBA draft lottery
By Corey Rausch
Even as it seemed like the likeliest possibility all season some fans will still be mad to see the rich get richer. They will ignore that the Golden State Warriors had the best odds to get the top pick and slid down. Adding a top pick to a team already boasting Steph Curry, Klay Thompson, Draymond Green and Andrew Wiggins should keep the rest of the league up at night.
In all likelihood, as long as James Wiseman is on the board when the Warriors are on the clock he is the pick for them. He has been all season and there is no reason to change that now. The team has trotted out a myriad of average centers (all due respect to Kevon Looney) since moving on from Andrew Bogut so getting a prospect to groom for that position without dealing without positional overlap is logical.
Wiseman stands 7’0” with a wingspan of 7’6”. He has the length and athleticism to be extremely disruptive on the defensive side of the floor. This team will not be hurting for offense when they bring back two of the greatest shooters of all time but as an impressive offensive rebounder he will be able to pick his spots.
Setting screens and rolling to the rim while also opening up avenues for his teammates will endear him to them quickly. As limited as the center position has been in the league in recent years (to an extent by the revolution of the Warriors) James Wiseman is still the right choice for this team.
