NBA Mock Draft: One final mock before Thursday’s NBA draft lottery
By Corey Rausch
Back on the board after taking Obi Toppin in the lottery, the Knicks come back around and get the point guard out of Duke, Tre Jones. Tre Jones will be everything the team hoped that Frank Ntilikina would have been. He is a confident playmaker who will selflessly get his teammates involved. He will get Toppin, RJ Barrett and Mitchell Robinson the best looks they can hope for without demanding too many of his own shots.
Jones also has the potential to be an elite lockdown defender. Defense is currently scarce in the Big Apple but Jones will come in and hope to change that culture, at least from his position. He needs to work on his own offense to become a full-time starter but the tools are clear.
Should Anthony Davis ever commit to being the center for the Los Angeles Lakers Isaiah Stewart would fit next to him beautifully. Having an impressive 7’4” wingspan and strong defensive motor will acquit him well. He will go down on the block and bully those who are not ready for it.
While he has not fully developed his shot of yet, Stewart is an above average free throw shooter for a college big man and could develop his game further out. He already boasts a collection of post moves that could put in a lot of work in the league.
