NBA Mock Draft: One final mock before Thursday’s NBA draft lottery
By Corey Rausch
For a team that needs floor spacing, Jalen Smith makes too much sense. He has the game of what you want a power forward next to Rudy Gobert to look like. In college, he averaged 15.5 points, 10.5 rebounds and 2.4 blocks and shot 36.8 percent from three.
Defense is the biggest red flag for Smith. He has the potential and he is a hard worker. Getting under Quinn Snyder could do wonders for his potential. He is a brilliant screen setter, so Utah Jazz fans will love to boast about another guy and his screen assists.
The slide is over for Saddiq Bey and he comes to a team that will greatly appreciate his potential as a 3-and-D wing. He is the perfect complementary player for a team looking to fill in what few gaps they have.
Bey will close out on 3-point shooters and is not afraid to spot up on the other side of the ball. The sample size is small but the potential is clear. For a team that has so much versatility, switching ability and shooting Bey is just more of the same. No reason to mess with a perfect formula, at least in the regular season.
