Memphis Grizzlies: Ranking the last 10 first-round NBA draft picks
6. Jordan Adams
Perhaps Jordan Adams would’ve been a solid player for the Grizzlies, had things been different for him. He could never stay healthy, though, with knee injuries dooming his NBA career in its infancy.
Memphis selected the shooting guard out of UCLA with the 22nd pick in the 2014 NBA Draft. It proved to be a significant selection, with shooting guard Rodney Hood going one pick later to the Utah Jazz.
As a rookie, Adams bounced between the Grizzlies and D-League. He did manage to play in 30 games for Memphis, though, and shot a promising 40 percent from 3-point range, averaging 3.1 points per game.
The troubles started after the season when Adams needed surgery to repair the meniscus in his right knee. After just two games in 2015-16, Adams needed more surgery on that right knee, missing the rest of the season. When it was clear he was going to miss the 2016-17 season as well, the Grizzlies waived him.
Adams has popped up here and there, from the G-League to The Basketball Tournament; he played in the CIBACOPA in Mexico last season. Adams has not appeared in an NBA game since the 2014-15 season, however, his last with the team that drafted him.
