The NBA playoffs are finally here. The seeding games were the perfect appetizer, now it’s time to make bold predictions about the games that really matter.

Even in a first round that looks to be mostly predictable in the East there is still a lot of fun ahead of us. This bubble has been anything but predictable. Just when it seemed one team was on the right track an injury or a bad match up presented itself. Teams like the Utah Jazz looked to tank their way out of a matchup with the Houston Rockets only for Michael Porter Jr. to turn into a star for the Denver Nuggets and Russell Westbrook to be announced out for part of the series.

As a way to preview each series briefly, it is time to make one prediction about each of the first-round series. This is not about who wins and who loses necessarily. This is about one thing that some may not see coming and will be looked at as a surprise in just a few weeks’ time.

Something is bound to get weird in this first round. There has quite literally never been an NBA playoff like this. Someone will stand out in a way that is unexpected. Rather than saying the top guys are going to be good let’s get a little more specific and just a tad bold.

The first prediction is neither bold nor predictable, however. The NBA playing playoff games during the week at lunchtime is going to be a huge hit. This is going to feel like March Madness with professionals. Now to one for each series.
