NBA Playoffs: 6 X-factors for Toronto Raptors vs. Brooklyn Nets
By Corey Rausch
Terence Davis
Despite his really terrible take on masks, Terence Davis has been pretty impressive for a rookie on a veteran-laden team. In just 16.8 minutes per game, he averaged 7.5 points, 3.3 rebounds and 1.6 assists per game.
Adjusting those numbers to the popular per 100 possessions they jump to a stellar 21.1 points, 9.2 rebounds, 4.5 assists and 1.5 steals. He fits the team defense perfectly and shoots a blistering 38.8 percent from long range. The fact that Norm Powell also fits this role only accentuates both of their impacts on this series.
Take the Los Angeles Lakers for example. They have been looking all season for wing players who can play defense and space the floor. The Raptors signed Davis as an undrafted free agent and have molded him into another valuable rotation piece. This is a testament to the developmental system Toronto as much as it is applause for Terence Davis finding a way to make an impact.
Davis’ game on offense is very specific. He attempted a total of 436 shots this season. Of those, 240 of them have come from beyond 24 feet and another 168 from within six feet. He plays his role perfectly and does not stray from it. If the scores get out of hand in these games (which many expect) he may be seeing increasing minutes and developing further.
