3 reasons we want the Portland Trail Blazers in the playoffs

Carmelo Anthony’s redemption tour
Carmelo Anthony was long discarded by the NBA, just waiting for a call. Any call, from any team.
That call finally came earlier this season from the Portland Trail Blazers, and he’s lived up to their expectations. Of course, it’s important to remember what those expectations are, and to be realistic, but that’s exactly what the Blazers have been.
Melo isn’t his peak self, but that’s not what the Trail Blazers need, and expecting that is unreasonable and unfair. He’s been able to provide a bit more shooting and rebounding than anybody expected and has even provided a surprising level of defense at crucial times.
He’s a well-below average shooter inside the 3-point arc, but he’s a piece of what makes this team work. And thanks to the reasonable role expectations and placed on him, he won’t limit this team’s ceiling.
At long last, it seems like Carmelo Anthony knows what and who he is, and that’s fantastic for both the Blazers and the NBA. It’s not every day an aging superstar has a chance to rediscover himself, especially in the high-leverage minutes provided the Blazers these days, but he’s been presented the chance and is taking full advantage.
