Milwaukee Bucks coach Mike Budenholzer should take home Coach of the Year Award
A proven track record of success
If Mike Budenholzer wins Coach of the Year this season he’ll become just the fourth man in NBA history to win the award three times. In addition to taking home the trophy last season, he also won the award in 2015 when he was at the helm of the Atlanta Hawks. That season he led the team to a record 60 wins and the first Conference Finals appearance in franchise history.
While four members of the team represented the East in that year’s All-star game, the Hawks did not have a single transcendent star. If Mike Budenholzer can take a team full of veterans to the top of the conference without a star player, it should come as no surprise that he’s been dominant with a roster built around the phenom, Giannis Antetokounmpo.
This postseason in the Orlando bubble, the Bucks will be challenged by the veteran Toronto Raptors and the youthful Boston Celtics. However, Coach Budenholzer’s ability to lead in the face of adversity and his proven track record of success should give Milwaukee Bucks fans confidence.
Their coach served as an assistant under the man many consider the greatest NBA coach of all time. He’s proven he can do more with less, and this year he has plenty of talent at his disposal. In leading the Bucks to the best record in the league this season, Mike Budenholzer has shown he’s the Coach of the Year. It’s a fitting honor to a job well done, and a title he should hold alone.
