Giannis Antetokounmpo: “The biggest challenge for us is ourselves”

During the Milwaukee Bucks’ postgame press conference on Thursday, Giannis Antetokounmpo was asked who he thinks their biggest challenge in the Eastern Conference is.

Throughout his response, Giannis stated:

"“Everybody that we play is going to be a challenge, so I don’t know who is going to be the biggest challenge for us, but I know that probably the biggest challenge for us is ourselves. You know, it’s how we gonna play, how hard we’re gonna play, are we going to play for one another, are we going to defend hard, are we going to rebound the ball, are we going to make that extra effort, are we going to dive on the floor? It’s all about that extra effort. It’s all about us.”"

As Giannis mentioned, the success of the Bucks will depend on themselves no matter which team they may be facing, and pushing each other every day to the best of their abilities will help them succeed in the bubble moving forward. Giannis has developed into a terrific leader on and off the court and his killer mentality has become contagious within the locker room, so he will continue to display unity while holding his teammates accountable and spreading the level of effort.

The Bucks control their own destiny from here on out. They’ve simply proved that they’ve been the best team in the regular season, so they know that they must continue to stay true to themselves and play their style of basketball as the NBA Playoffs approach.

After an awakening performance against the Miami Heat on Thursday, the Milwaukee Bucks will next face the Dallas Mavericks on Saturday night.

It will be interesting to see what coach Budenholzer decides to do in these remaining regular season games with the Bucks already locking up the top seed in the East, but hopefully, they continue to push themselves while maintaining their identity throughout the rest of the journey inside the Walt Disney World bubble.
