The Miami Heat and Victor Oladipo reportedly have an interest in partnering in 2021; thus, let’s take a look at how he and Jimmy Butler would mesh as a duo.

The Miami Heat have been positioned as the favorites to acquire the services of Victor Oladipo in 2021. Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald stated earlier this month that there are strong indications that Oladipo is going to join forces with Jimmy Butler and sign with the Heat during the 2021 offseason.

How Victor Oladipo’s skill set meshes with the Miami Heat offense

But is Miami the right landing spot for Oladipo? No, as Oladipo excels when he is allowed to be a primary ball-handler. Oladipo’s best statistical season came during the 2017-18 season when he averaged 64.3 touches per game.

These touches helped him amass 8.6 pick and rolls per game where he shot 46 percent from the field on 6.8 attempts per game. Oladipo’s field goal percentage allows 8 points accounting for 34.6 percent of his scoring output.

At first glance, Oladipo seems like an excellent fit for the Heat offense as they run a pick and roll offense, averaging 21.3 pick and rolls per game over their first 68 games this season. They shot 40.7 percent from the field on 16.3 attempts per game, which enabled them to score 18.6 points per game out of the pick and roll.

Unfortunately, Oladipo is unlikely to get the chance to be a primary ball-handler, with Jimmy Butler occupying the role.
