Gary Trent Jr. (Portland Trail Blazers)

In his second NBA season, Gary Trent Jr. showed flashes of potential throughout the regular season, but never consistently. With Rodney Hood and Trevor Ariza occupying most of his playing time, Trent saw a minimized role. However, with both of those players not in the restart, the second-year guard got his opportunity, and he has unquestionably upped his game for the Portland Trail Blazers.

Heading into the resumed season, the 9-seeded Blazers were going to need all of the help they could get in their pursuit for the 8-seed, and Trent has asserted himself as a legit offensive threat for them. In their 2-1 start, the guard has put up remarkable numbers with the ball in his hands.

Coming off of the bench in all three games, Trent impressed with averages of 18 points per game on 55.4 percent shooting from the field and a phenomenal 62.7 percent shooting from behind the arc. With a season average of 8.2 points per game, Trent has blossomed into a dynamic scorer in the restart, something the Blazers will need him to continue.

Playing alongside the likes of Damian Lillard, CJ McCollum, and Carmelo Anthony, among others, Gary Trent is likely a name that most casual fans were not all too familiar with hearing. However, if he keeps up this scoring barrage, the NBA fandom will get accustomed to hearing his name soon enough.
