Believe it! The restart of the 2019-20 NBA season is upon us, and the Los Angeles Lakers are set to continue their pursuit of the franchise’s 17th title. While the chances of adding another banner to the rafters seem likely, it’s far from guaranteed.
There are still plenty of talented teams standing in the way of the Lakers’ latest ascension to the NBA throne. On top of a handful of daunting Western Conference foes, the Lakers also have to face the all-too-real reality that a worthy challenger will emerge from the Eastern Conference — assuming they even make it to the league’s biggest stage.

If they’re going to do that, they’ll need some of their top role players to step it up a notch or five.
Of these players I’m about to discuss, all three fit into the “underrated contributors” category for the Lakers during their run to the NBA Finals. We all know what superstars LeBron James and Anthony Davis bring to the table, but Los Angeles will need other unexpected stars to emerge in order to fend off the league’s other top contenders.
These are the underappreciated guys who could get the job done when the playoffs roll around. For the Lakers’ sake, let’s hope they live up to their potential and deliver when crunch time occurs.
