Duncan Robinson has been one of the hottest shooters in the NBA this season. In the first minutes of the Miami Heat’s scrimmage against the Sacramento Kings, he’s already blazing.

Duncan Robinson‘s ascent to the heights of the best shooters in the NBA has been nothing short of astonishing. He shot just 28.1 percent from 3-point range in his rookie season with the Miami Heat in 2018-19, but when the Heat gave him the greenest of green lights this season he’s shot the lights out since day one.

This season he’s shooting an absurd 44.8 percent from 3-point range on massive volume. He’s taking 8.4 3s per game at this rate and he’s one of the biggest reasons the Heat have been a shocking success story this season.

Going into the NBA’s coronavirus-induced hiatus, Robinson was even hotter than his overall rate. He made 47.7 percent of his last 202 3-pointers, a span of just 20 games. So far in the first quarter of the Miami Heat’s opening intrasquad scrimmage against the Sacramento Kings, he’s led the way in scoring with 12 points on 4-of-5 shooting.

He’s also showing that he’s the last guy in the NBA you can give 10+ feet in space behind the 3-point line, as you see in the clip above from the Heat’s Twitter account.

Duncan Robinson wasn’t expected to make it to the NBA. He had to fight his way onto the team a year ago in a tremendous Summer League performance, and the way was paved by injury, suspension and misfortune up and down the roster.

He wasn’t supposed to be an NBA player, or a starter, let alone be among the best shooters on the planet, but he’s made it clear in an incredible 2019-20 Miami Heat season that he is here to stay.
