On Tuesday night, news broke that Patrick Beverley had departed the NBA’s bubble due to a personal matter. Here’s what that means to the LA Clippers.

The LA Clippers have had a tough time getting their players in the NBA’s Orlando restart bubble, and an even harder time keeping them there. Over the weekend, center Montrezl Harrell left the bubble to attend to a family emergency, and on Tuesday night guard Patrick Beverley also departed to deal with an emergency personal matter.

ESPN’s Malika Andrews broke the news on Twitter.

Beverley has had a solid season for the Clippers, starting all 48 games he’s appeared in while shooting 42.8 percent from the floor and 37.9 percent from 3-point range. He’s one of the more reliable 3-and-D guards in the NBA, and both his defense and energy are major problems for opposing guards.

While at the moment both Harrell and Beverley expect to rejoin the Clippers at some time in the future, they’ll have to deal with another quarantine period upon their return before they can actually participate with their team or even leave their rooms. The timetable is clearly uncertain for their return to on-court action, but at this point the only concerns anybody should have revolve around Harrell, Beverley and their families.

As things stand currently, the Clippers are down four players with this duo out, and both Ivica Zubac and Landry Shamet out of the lineup.

The LA Clippers are a deep team so they’re more able to handle the loss of multiple starters for some unknown period of time than most teams are, but of course the more contributors even a deep team loses the more complicated their path becomes.

Especially when LeBron James, Anthony Davis and the Los Angeles Lakers are on that path.

At the moment, all we can do is wait and see what news comes out of the Clippers camp, but hopefully, the departures will come to an end here.

Next. Paul George, Kawhi Leonard not done overcoming obstacles. dark
