San Antonio Spurs: The NBA’s most overlooked young core
By Jono Perilli
Wrapping it up
It’s worth noting that some players may have been missed, and that’s accounted for. Some other players such as Bryn Forbes, just don’t hold that much of a place on the Spurs roster, and as much as they’re great, they’ll be dealt sooner or later.
It’s also worth noting the exclusion of DeMar DeRozan and LaMarcus Aldridge, both are the best players on the Spurs right now. DeRozan isn’t going to stay in San Antonio, he’s publically hinted and stated that he doesn’t enjoy it and he wants to win now, which is rightfully so. Aldridge is on his last legs in terms of star ability and at the age of 35, chances are he’ll fizzle out.
This young Spurs squad is undoubtedly full of potential, and it makes tons of sense for this team to be in the playoff race in a few seasons. Their young core has so many contributors who have the chance of stepping out of their shells and giving you a fantastic night statistically. This Spurs team is better than a lot of people think, and their young core is clocking in as one of the most overlooked in the NBA, easily.
Plus, under the coaching of Gregg Popovich, this Spurs team is only going to be bolstered for defense and offense, perfect for the developing NBA’s most overlooked core. Remember, Popovich is one of the greatest coaches of all time for a reason, and he can easily coach this team to a bright future.
This hard-hitting offensive and defensive tandem will have a chip on their shoulder heading into the future, and this young Spurs core are looking to prove doubters wrong.
