Keldon Johnson

This one is a bit of a reach, but Keldon Johnson has the premier potential to become one of the watchable players in the Western Conference.

Johnson, who was a mainstay in the G-League for the majority of his rookie season, is seriously an athletic machine, who’ll quickly earn more minutes in the NBA as soon as possible. The Spurs still have DeMar DeRozan who takes the majority of the small forward minutes, but when he’s gone, the team will look to implement Johnson, to an uproar of hype.

If you’re a fan who tuned into the G-League, you’ll know how amazing Johnson is as a slasher. An explosive slashing wing, Johnson also has a sufficient shooting ability, while it still needs development. Johnson also flaunts a great defensive and rebounding potential, that is bound to be tinkered with in the G-League.

Johnson was one of the most overlooked rookies in the 2019 NBA Draft, and the Spurs have a serious young gun on their squad if they capitalize on the hype.

Johnson is a legitimate star in the making, as evident by his well-rounded playstyle, and he has the makings of a young Corey Maggette, and hell, depending on how it goes, Johnson may even be better. Depending on how you see it, Johnson won’t come out and make an immediate impact, since he’s still got a lot of room for improvement.

But if he can make the most of his potential, Johnson can come become one of the most fun players in the NBA, which takes us back to him being super watchable. Even taking a glimpse at his G-League and NCAA matches, Johnson is a sure-fire threat on the slashing end while somehow making an impact everywhere on the court.

Sure, it’s a tad bit of a stretch, but with a lot of development and refinement, Keldon Johnson will supplant himself into the Spurs franchise core.
